Safety-First Design

The ONX Protection Standard

Combat Sports are Demanding

Training is where most athletes spend the majority of their rounds and where preventable hand, wrist, and partner injuries can add up fast. ONX exists to push combat sports equipment forward with patented protection systems, better fit, and purpose-built designs because your gear should help you train hard and train safer.

“Every sport is adding new technologies and designs to better protect the athletes… Why haven’t we seen that type of innovation in combat sports?”

The ONX Protection Standard™

Protective Padding Engineering

Gloves should act like an energy management system absorbing and dispersing impact so your hands and wrists don’t have to. ONX uses multiple layers of shock-absorbing foams built to take repeated abuse session after session.

What this means for athletes

  • Reduced harsh impact feel during high-volume training
  • More consistent protection over long rounds
  • Better comfort for you and safer contact for your partners

X-Factor Wrist Stability & Support

Typical gloves mainly support “around the wrist.” ONX’s internal support system is designed to stabilize the hand + wrist as one unit so impact loads travel through stronger structures instead of stressing weaker joints and ligaments.

What makes it different

  • Internal strapping designed for support around the hand & wrist
  • Support system engineered to reduce compression on weaker joints/bones during impact

Ergonomic Fist Alignment

Correct hand/wrist positioning is critical not only for power, but for injury reduction. ONX is designed to encourage a more compact,
properly aligned fist so impact forces route through the strongest lines of your hand/wrist/forearm.

Why this matters

  • Many hand injuries come from landing on the wrong knuckles/joints when the fist isn’t fully compacted
  • Better alignment = more confident striking mechanics, less pain and discomfort over time

Fit matters: removing “dead space” for safer training

Loose fit and internal slip change where forces go at impact. ONX combines a supportive internal system with heat moldable foams so athletes can reduce dead space and dial in a more locked-in feel similar in concept to molding a mouthguard.

Heat-moldable foam (overview)

  • Molding helps the glove match your hand shape
  • Reduces slip and dead space
  • Improves comfort and stability during repeated strikes

Why ONX focuses on safety-first design

Many gloves on the market were designed around pro-style wrapping and legacy construction. Most athletes can’t replicate professional wraps consistently which can contribute to poor hand positioning, knuckle
contact on the wrong joints, and higher stress on the wrist/hand when impact forces “bottleneck” into weaker structures.

ONX designs for the reality of modern training:

  • High-volume bag work
  • Controlled partner rounds
  • Long-term hand and wrist health
  • Consistent fit and alignment across sessions

Safer training guidelines (practical, gym-ready)

Partner-first sparring habits

  • Match intensity and experience appropriately (avoid “ego rounds”)
  • Communicate injuries, fatigue, or dizziness immediately
  • Use the right gear for the session: bigger gloves for sparring, appropriate protection for the sport and rule set

Equipment checks

  • Replace gear when padding is compressed, uneven, or breaking down
  • Ensure closures and straps still stabilize the wrist
  • Keep your gear dry and clean between sessions

A clear, honest statement

ONX designs equipment to improve protection, stability, and fit but
no glove or protective gear can eliminate risk in combat sports. Your
best safety outcomes come from the combination of:

  • Well-designed gear
  • Smart training practices
  • Appropriate supervision and coaching
  • Prompt medical attention when injuries occur

FAQs

Some ONX designs are engineered to reduce reliance on wraps by improving
internal stability and alignment, but hand-wrap use is personal and
training-dependent. If you’re unsure, ask your coach and prioritize what
keeps your hands and wrists stable and pain-free.

differ in strike angles)

Head injury safety: concussion awareness

Combat sports carry head-impact risk. If a concussion is suspected, the safest move is immediate removal from contact and medical evaluation.

What to do if a concussion is suspected

  • Remove the athlete from activity right away
  • Do not return to sparring the same day
  • Return to sport only with healthcare-provider approval

Warning signs can be delayed (hours or days), so monitor symptoms after training.

Combat-sport specific guidance: Under no circumstances should an athlete spar or compete while experiencing concussion symptoms; gradual return should follow symptom resolution and medical clearance.
